Beginning of February

These last few weeks have kept speeding on by! Work and office life has been great and I'm thankful to have the ability to still go into work in person. The fun-Friday teams meetings have also been a good way to see the faces of everyone in the office since quite a few people are also working remotely. Last weekend I did a little bike exploration with some friend from the office to Superkilen Park and Grundtvigs Church. The park was super fun to see in person, having studied it since my urban planning undergrad days. Despite the color being a little worn down, the vast amount of people and kids out and about enjoying the park even in almost freezing weather was a testament to its success. (The photo was a brief moment of emptiness between kids zooming down the hill on their scooters...I promise!) This week at work was a whirlwind, so I enjoyed another clear (but super cold!) day biking around with Bryce and another friend. It's become an every-week activity to test out...

A Chilly, Sunny Weekend

Last weekend was spectacular! While the weather remained super cold, the sun came out in full force so it was a great weekend to explore more by bike. Bryce and I, along with another intern who works with Bryce at Cobe, met in Nordhavn to explore around the newer waterfront developments, marina and fishing community. We first stopped by a bakery to get coffee/cocoa to keep our hands warm as we parked our bikes to walk around. Nearby we witnessed lots of people braving the icy water (literally covered in a layer of ice) for a quick winter dip while many others looked on from the sidelines. It was really fun to see the new - mostly residential development in this area as it is in quite a stark contrast from our apartment built in 1870. Greeting from Copenhagen! I'm starting this blog to document some of my experiences and explorations around Denmark during my 6 month internship at Dorte Mandrup Architecture in conjunction with the Scan Design Foundation. Two weeks in and despite Covid-19 restrictions, I made it to Copenhagen safely and have already fallen in love with the city! It's my first time in Scandinavia and am very much looking forward to exploring more over the coming months. Here are a few snapshots from the first two weeks: People have said it doesn't snow much here but it's already snowed 5 times since I arrived... Went for a walk and happened across the changing of the guard. Delicious cardamom roll from Juno the Bakery Chilly walks with new friends. The lakes froze over this weekend. Wonderful dinner with new friends and coworkers!
